Kidapawan jail escapee re-arrested in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Lawmen re-arrested an escaped inmate of the North Cotabato District Jail in Kidapawan City following a joint military-police operation on Tuesday.

A report from this headquarters of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID) identfied the arrested escapee as Ismael Abas who was earlier detained for frustrated parricide and illegal possession of firearms and explosive filed before the Regional Trial Court Branch 22 in Kabacan, North Cotabato.

Abas was one of the more than 100 detainees who fled the jail during an attack by armed men last Jan. 4, 2017 at the North Cotabato provincial jail.

Acting on a tip, combined elements of Army’s 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, North Cotabato police and Bureau of Jail and Management Penology pounced on the escapee at his hideout in Pagatin, Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
