Abu Sayyaf coddler killed in Sulu clash

MANILA — Marine troops shot dead a suspected Abu Sayyaf coddler during operations in Sulu early Saturday.

Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) spokesperson Capt. Maria Rowena Dalmacio said the incident took place at 5:10 a.m. at Barangay Tubig Puti, Luuk, Sulu.

Dalmacio said troops from Marine Battalion Landing Team were conducting clearing operations when the alleged Abu Sayyaf coddler, identified as Muksidin A. Dadil, fired at the troopers, triggering a five-minute firefight which left the bandit dead.

Recovered were a 5.56 mm long magazine, seven 7.62 mm rounds, two spent 7.62 mm shells, two .30 caliber ammunition, a duffle bag, two water bowls, a bolo, a pair of combat boots, four assorted uniforms, one combat rig with 14 magazine pouches; two cellphones without SIM card; and three ID cards belonging to Rodelyn Kadil and Muksidin Kadil along with the suspect’s body. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
