OCD lauds release of deputy administrator Faeldon

MANILA — The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) welcomed the release of former Customs commissioner and now its deputy administrator Nicanor Faeldon, stressing that this will strengthen the agency’s manpower needed for its various tasks.

This was emphasized by OCD spokesperson Mina Marasigan in an interview late Monday.

Faeldon was ordered detained last September, first in the Senate and later in the Pasay City Jail after refusing to answer questions regarding its PHP6.4 billion illegal drugs probe.

Marasigan added that they are now waiting for Faeldon to report to the OCD so that he will be briefed on his new tasks and functions.

So inaantabayanan natin na makompleto lahat ng mga required processes, documents niya doon sa kanyang situation and then, antayin namin na makakapag-report na siya dito for a better briefing, better appreciation and actual exposure dito sa magiging task niya (So we are waiting for the completion of all required process and documents in his present situation. Then we will wait for him to report here for better briefing, better appreciation and actual exposure that he must get for his tasks),” she stressed.

Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Sen. Richard Gordon signed the release papers of Faeldon on Monday’s hearing when the latter pledged to answer all questions from senators.

The OCD is one of the attached offices of the Department of National Defense tasked to formulate a comphrensive national civil defense and disaster preparedness program.

Faeldon’s appointment to the OCD post was signed on December 22, 2017. He replaced Rodolfo Demosthenes Santillan.

The former Marine captain resigned from the Bureau of Customs last August following the PHP6.4 billion shabu scandal which was investigated by the Senate. (PNA)
