20 cops receive ‘Medalya ng Kagalingan’ in Region 9

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Police Regional Office (PRO-9) has awarded “Medalya ng Kagalingan” (Medal of Merit) to 20 officers and personnel for exemplary performance in the campaign against lawless elements in the region.

Chief Supt. Edwin De Ocampo, Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA), led the awarding ceremony held after Monday’s flag raising ceremony at Camp Abendan in Barangay Mercedes, this city.

The recipients of the Merit Medal are Chief Insp. Jerry Alvarez, Insp. Nicko Czar Magnaye, SPO1 Allan Sadji, PO3 Darwin Gampal, PO3 Alfad Jamiri and PO2 Rueben Bello, all from the 904th Mobile Force Company, for the arrest of Abu Sayyaf bandit identified as Samer Lanjang on February 15, 2018 at Zaragosa Street, this city.

Lanjang was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of 15 workers at the Golden Harvest Plantation on June 11, 2001 in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan.

Senior Insp. Nidjam Salim, SPO3 Ronelo Dotdot, SPO1 Junjie Apat, PO2 Harris Marcaban and PO1 Roel Endrina, all from 902nd Mobile Force Company based in Pagadian City were also awarded Merit Medal for the arrest of Alvin Retuento, a ranking New People’s Army (NPA) rebel operating in Zamboanga Del Sur and Misamis Occidental on March 10, 2018 in Barangay Culo, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur.

Senior Insp. Benjemar Ajibon, SPO1 Elizarde Aba, PO3 Sandy Borromeo, PO2 Bryan Mandiadi and PO1 Valerie Agraviador, all from the PRO-9 Headquarters, for the arrest of notorious Abu Sayyaf member identified as Jimmy Bla in Barangay Rio Hondo, this city on February 28, 2018.

Bla was involved in the kidnapping of six members of the Jehova’s Witness on August 20, 2002 in Patikul, Sulu.

Senior Insp. Sonny Boy Peres, SPO1 Muzzadeigh Haman, PO2 Roberto Luna, PO2 Jonas Luminarias and PO1 Moh Shamier Jul, all from Isabela City Police Station, who were recognized for the arrest of Anding Abdua, number four in the drugs watch list and a member of Anjawan crime syndicate on March 10, 2018 in Barangay Kaumpurnah Zone I, Isabela City, Basilan.

De Ocampo lauded the awardees for the exemplary performance they demonstrated that contibuted to the success of the campaign against lawless elements. (PNA)
