PCOO exec to keynote Negros Press Club 82nd induction ceremony

BACOLOD CITY — Presidential Communications Undersecretary Joel Egco will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker during the 82nd Induction and Oath-taking Ceremony of the Negros Press Club (NPC) on the evening of April 11 at SMX Convention Bacolod.

A former journalist at the Manila Times and president of the National Press Club of the Philippines, Egco, under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), is designated as Supervising Undersecretary of the Philippine News Agency and Executive Director of the Presidential Task Force on Violence Against Media Workers, also known as the Presidential Task Force on Media Security.

He is expected to talk on the theme “NPC @ 82: Standing for the Truth, Safeguarding Free Press.”

This year’s officers are Renato Duran (DYEZ Aksyon Radyo Bacolod), president; Erwin Nicavera (SunStar Bacolod), vice president; Dolly Yasa (The Daily Guardian), secretary; Glazyl Masculino (SunStar Bacolod), treasurer; Elsie Jolingan (Negros Daily Bulletin), auditor; directors Chrysee Samillano (The Visayan Daily Star), Edgar Lucasan (DYRL Abyan Radyo), Aquilino Ciocon (DYAF Radyo Veritas), Jemlo Victosa (RMN DYHB Bacolod), Merlinda Pedrosa (SunStar Bacolod), Eric Magbanua (DYEZ Aksyon Radyo Bacolod), Owen Bayog (Negros Daily Bulletin), Hernand Garciniego (The Visayan Daily Star), and Martian Muyco (ABS-CBN Bacolod).
