Antique eyes ‘Go Negosyo’ centers in all LGUs

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — Antique is doing its best to be the first province in Western Visayas to establish “Go Negosyo” centers in all of its 18 municipalities before October this year.

Wilson Alian of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Antique provincial office, who is in charge of the “Go Negosyo” centers here, said in an interview Thursday that they are now coordinating with the mayors of the seven remaining municipalities so they could also open their centers before the target date.

“The six municipalities have already submitted the needed documents to DTI except for Tobias Fornier which we still have to follow up,”Alian said.

The towns that have their documents already submitted are Barbaza, Bugasong, Belison, San Remigio, Laua-an and Anini-y.

The documents are needed so DTI could allocate budget for the equipment and furniture of the centers from PHP250,000 for Model C or about 500,000 for Model B.

The local government units are in charge of hiring the staff paid by the DTI.

Had it not been for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in May, the ‘Go Negosyo’ centers could have been opened even earlier than August or September, he added.

The opening of the “Go Negosyo” centers is provided under Republic Act No. 10644 to assist entrepreneurs register their businesses right in their own municipalities and be able to attend trainings on business conceptualization and feasibility, financing, management, capability building, human resources, and marketing. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
