Businesses urged to join ‘Balik Eskwela Diskwento’

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — Business establishment owners are invited to join this year’s “Balik Eskwela Diskwento” (Back to School Discount) by registering at the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) office in Antique.

Glen Fernando of DTI Antique said Thursday no deadline has been set yet for the registration of establishments. DTI officials are set to meet to decide a specific date in May.

“By participating in the ‘Balik Eskwela Diskwento’, the establishments could avail of the free advertisements from DTI,” Fernando said.

He said last year’s activity was held from May 31 to June 4 with 15 local retailers participating.

“The total sales generated then by the establishments reached PHP1.438 million that benefited 10,777 buyers,” Fernando said.

He said the “Balik Eskwela Diskwento” is commonly availed of by parents and students as they prepare for the opening of the school year.

Establishments could indicate the products to be offered and how much discount they could give. Last year, the least discount given by establishments was 15 percent. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
