PNP testing center in Palawan sought

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan – A Palawan provincial board member on Tuesday requested the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to open a testing center for potential examinees here to reduce expenses and to encourage more applicants to join the state police force.

Board Member Sharon Onda said a separate testing center from Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, the PNP’s regional testing center, will greatly help applicants who do not have enough savings to finance their trips to take the police examination.

“Palawan is the only province in the Mimaropa region that is not connected by land, and the reason why we are requesting for a testing center is to lessen the cost of travel for them,” Onda said.

She expressed optimism that once the testing center in the capital city opens, more police applicants would be interested to undergo training and become policemen.

“We hope some of them would augment our police force in the city and province,” she said.

The Napolcom holds two sets of examinations twice a year — one for promotion, and another for those who want to join the PNP. (Celeste Anna Formoso/PNA)
