3 transport agencies to remit P11-B in dividends

MANILA — Three attached agencies of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will remit a total of PHP11 billion in dividends for 2017 to the National Treasury Friday.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will be remitting PHP2.01 billion, PHP6.22 billion, and PHP3 billion worth of dividends, respectively, according to the DOTr.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade lauded the attached agencies for their contributions to the national coffers.

“I always tell our revenue-generating agencies to improve their collection. This is our way of contributing to the government, especially as we usher in the Golden Age of Philippine Infrastructure,” Tugade said in a statement Thursday.

Tugade, along with officials from the DOTr, MIAA, CAAP and PPA, will turn over the checks to Department of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III in Clark, Pampanga, where the central office of the transportation department is located.

During the previous year, various revenue-generating agencies and offices under the DOTr were able to remit a total of PHP25.78 billion to the Bureau of Treasury in full, with contributions coming from the Land Transportation Office, Maritime Industry Authority, Toll Regulatory Board, Office of Transport Security, and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
