BACOOR CITY, Cavite – A three-hour fire razed some 30 houses and displaced more than 200 residents in Barangay Espirito, Panapaan 4 in this city on Tuesday afternoon.
Bacoor City Fire Marshall Senior Inspector Alyster C. Castro and Deputy Fire Marshall Senior Fire Officer 4 Pablito Castro said the fire, which started around 1:30 p.m. in one of the houses, spread quickly due to strong winds that fanned the flames and engulfed houses made of light materials.
They added that 30 BFP fire trucks from nearby Imus City, Noveleta and General Trias City responded to the fire site.
Fire fighters, however, found difficulty in extinguishing the blaze as they negotiated through narrow lanes at the fire site as the surge of residents save whatever belongings they have.
Residents, fetching pails of water from the busted water pipes, queued to help douse the fire.
Fire fighters declared a fire out at 3:30 p.m. but the cost of the blaze is still being ascertained.
Vilma Galvez, Barangay Panapaan 4 chair said the fire victims were temporarily evacuated to the barangay covered court.(Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
