Expect rains in Mindanao on Friday: PAGASA

MANILA — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring rain showers to Mindanao until Friday afternoon, according to the state-run Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin effective for 24 hours, PAGASA said Mindanao could expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ, which has a low atmospheric pressure that makes an ideal breeding ground for typhoons.

PAGASA cautioned of possible flooding and landslides in these areas due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms.

Extreme northern Luzon is forecast to have moderate to rough coastal waters pushed by moderate to strong winds.

Slight to moderate coastal waters will also transpire over central and southern Luzon, Visayas, and the rest of northern Luzon brought by light to moderate winds.

Mindanao, meanwhile, will have slight to moderate coastal waters due to light to moderate winds. (Juzel Danganan/PNA)
