Bong Go: Complaints via 8888 acted upon ASAP

MANILA — Special Assistant to the President Bong Go on Wednesday assured that complaints filed against erring government personnel and officials via hotline 8888 are acted upon by the Palace and concerned government agencies.

In a radio interview, Go said that the complaints, especially concerning allegations of corruption, are screened and properly vetted by an office whose job is to let the ax fall where it may, no matter who’s at the receiving end.

Insofar as the President is concerned, government officials should not be tainted even by a “whiff” of scandal, Go said.

“Wala pong (pini)pili si Pangulo. May nangampanya sa kanya as early as 2014Secretaries, may mga secretaries na sumama talaga sa kanya nung kampanya kaya ang usapan naman dito tumulong kayo sa gobyerno,” Go added.

“Pinilit ninyo ‘kong tumakbo. Ngayon nandidito na tayo sa gobyerno ay kayo mauuna sa korapsyon ay hindi puwede ‘yan,” added Go, explaining the President’s strong anti-corrupion stance.

Nonetheless, Go said that due process is followed in looking at the complaints and that they ensure there’s enough evidence before penalizing officials and personnel.

“Kaya, ito nga lang natanggal, alam naman natin may basehan talaga si Pangulo… Even ‘yung ebidensya hawak namin kaya sinabi na umalis ka na lang kung hindi ka man lang makatulong ng maayos sa gobyerno ko. Umalis ka na lang.” (John Henry Dodson/Concept News Central)
