Suspected drug pusher killed in DavNor shootout

DAVAO CITY — Joint operatives of the Tagum City Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 11 killed a suspected illegal drugs peddler in a shootout Tuesday in Purok 16, Barangay Madaum, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

Nephi Noli Dimaandal, the spokesman of PDEA 11, said suspect Jay-ar Abayon Tulod also yielded PHP600,000 worth of suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, and a.38 revolver with live ammunition.

Dimaandal said Abayon was killed in the operation when he engaged the operatives in a shootout. He was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.

PDEA 11 Director Antonio Rivera said Davao del Norte Criminal Investigation and Detection Team implemented search warrant against Tulod at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Rivera said this serves as a warning to all drug perpetrators operating in Davao Region that the government’s law enforcement agencies are working together to eliminate illegal drugs.

“This only shows that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine National Police, and the community are one in the fight against illegal drugs,” Rivera said. (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
