6 health facilities open in Nueva Ecija town

JAEN, Nueva Ecija—Residents in this municipality, especially the less fortunate ones, now have easy access to medical services following the opening of six new health facilities here.

Town Mayor Sylvia Austria on Tuesday said the new health facilities are the Barangay Health Stations (BHS) in the villages of Pakul, Sta. Rita, Sto. Tomas North and Langla; and the Maternal and Child Care Center and Tuberculosis Directly Observed Treatment Short-Course (TB DOTS) Center inside the municipal compound.

Austria said the establishment of the Maternal and Child Care Center and TB DOTS was a realization of the programs initiated by her late husband, former Mayor Santy Austria.

“Napakalaki ng maitutulong nito lalo na sa ating mga mahihirap at mga buntis dahil mapangangalagaan sila  (These health facilities are big help especially to the poor and to those pregnant women because they will be taken care of),”  the mayor said.

The TB DOTS center, on the other hand, will help tuberculosis patients on both treatment and prevention.

Meanwhile, Austria said the health stations, which are a project of the Department of Health (DOH), were established in lots owned by some public schools here with an aim to cascade efficient health services to people in the far-flung areas.

“Dito na magpupunta ang mga nurses (Nurses will come here),” the mayor added. (Marilyn Galang/PNA)
