MANILA — A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted at the Pacific Ocean has a slim chance of turning into a typhoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In a weather forecast on Wednesday, PAGASA weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the LPA at the Pacific Ocean is being monitored and has a “low chance of turning into a typhoon”.
Mimaropa and western Visayas regions and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas are also forecast to experience rains due to the southwest monsoon. PAGASA cautioned of possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.
Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Cordillera, Bicol region, other parts of Central Luzon and Calabarzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, and ARMM will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
In these areas, the state weather bureau similarly warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate, and at times heavy rains.
Other areas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by local thunderstorms. PAGASA also cautioned of possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.
Bulquerin added that PAGASA had issued a gale warning in Occidental Mindoro, Lubao island, Palawan, and the Calamian group of islands. In these areas, fisherfolk with small boats are warned not to head out to sea.
Overall, the western section of southern Luzon will also be rough to very rough, caused by strong to gale force winds.
Other parts of Luzon and western Visayas will have moderate to occasionally rough coastal waters brought by moderate to strong winds.
Other areas will have slight to moderate coastal waters, blown by light to moderate winds.
PAGASA also sees a temperature range of 15-35 degrees Celsius across the country until Sunday.
