No voter registration in some areas due to bad weather: Comelec

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday has suspended work as well as the ongoing voter registration in several areas due to heavy rains brought by tropical depression “Henry”.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez announced the suspension of work and voter registration effective noon in the National Capital Region, Regions 4-A (Calabarzon) and 4-B (Mimaropa), as well as in the provinces of Bataan and Bulacan.

“The Commission En Banc today (Tuesday) announced the suspension of work, effective 12 noon for the following Comelec field offices affected by tropical depression Henry,” Jimenez said in a statement.

Jimenez said that work in the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila has also been suspended.

On Tuesday, several local government units suspended classes to the bad weather caused by tropical depression “Henry”.

In Memorandum Circular No. 47, Malacanang suspended work in government offices and classes in public schools in all levels in Metro Manila starting 1 p.m. Tuesday due to bad weather brought about by the tropical depression.

“Henry” left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, however, warned of moderate to heavy rains across the country despite the exit of the tropical depression. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
