TD ‘Josie,’ monsoon rains bring floods to Metro Manila

MANILA — Heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression “Josie” has caused flooding in parts of Metro Manila Sunday.

In an advisory, the Makati City local government has reported flooding in the following areas: Gil Puyat-Dian, Gil Puyat-Filmore — six to seven inches deep, passable; Mayapis-Yakal to Malugay — three inches deep, passable; Malugay-Mayapis going to Tecson Building, Gil Puyat — five inches deep, passable; Bernardino, Guadalupe Viejo — four inches deep, passable.

Meanwhile, the Marikina River is on second alarm as it reached 16.6 meters as of 1:53 p.m.

In its latest weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration raised an orange rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal.
