SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The conduct of the three-month Barangay Newly-Elected Officials’ (BNEO) seminar in Antique province will start in September.
The memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the Liga ng Barangay (LnB) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) provincial office is currently being worked out.
BNEO is mandatory among the newly-elected barangay officials so they would be incapacitated to carry out their responsibilities on barangay governance and administration.
Local Government Operations Officer, Anna Carolina D. Jardiolin, said in an interview on Friday that LnB president, Pamela Socorro B. Azucena, visited DILG-Antique’s office to discuss the BNEO preparations.
“The barangay officials of the 17 municipalities will be conducted with BNEOs in clusters that will mostly be held in San Jose de Buenavista,” Jardiolin said.
She said each cluster will have a maximum of 125 barangay officials, including their barangay secretaries and treasurers, who will participate in the seminar.
Antique has 590 barangays.
However, the training for barangay officials of Caluya Island will be conducted on site. “Trainers will really come from the DILG,” Jardiolin said. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
