QC exempts shopping center from zoning ordinance

MANILA — The Quezon City local government on Tuesday exempted from a zoning ordinance the construction of a shopping center in Barangay Old Balara.

The Quezon City Council approved the grant of a certificate of exemption from zoning ordinance to RVA Place Incorporated for the construction of a two-story shopping center on Capitol Hills Drive, Barangay Old Balara.

Authored by Councilor Marvin Rillo, City Resolution 7430-2018 provides an exemption to RVA Place Incorporated, owned by Roberto V. Antonio, from City Ordinance 2502-2016 or the “Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance of 2016”.

The Quezon City Planning and Development Office considered the location of the San Antonio Place shopping center as a “low density residential zone”.

The city resolution noted that RVA Place Incorporated has complied with the requirements prescribed by law.

“The Sangguniang Barangay and the residents of the area did not object to the construction of the building because it would not harm the safety and health of the residents,” the resolution said. (Perfecto Raymundo, Jr./PNA)
