LAOAG CITY —Teachers and students of the Ilocos Norte Agricultural College (INAC) in Pasuquin town can now enjoy the convenience of a 21st century Math-Information, Communication and Technology room as it became the latest recipient of Caltex Fuel Award, this year.

The Caltex Fuel Your School is a multi-awarded fuel-to-donate program that has helped thousands of teachers and millions of students in public high schools.

The award comes with a one unit 43-inch Devant Smart television, 1 Aspire and 3 Acer laptop with Epson projector including 30 units of Casio scientific calculators, all delivered on Aug. 31.

Hazel Bareng, Teacher III of INAC and the proponent of the project, said Monday they are grateful for the award they have received for the first time from Caltex, a tripartite project of Chevron Philippines Inc., Northern Star Philippines and the American Chamber Foundation-Philippines.

“The program aims to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) track by extending educational instructional equipment worth PHP100,000 to 30 lucky schools which were chosen by the screening committee of the said company,” said Bareng.

Under the program from June 1, 2018 to July 31, 2018, every one peso from every liter of fuel purchased will be donated to selected beneficiary school such as INAC and other Senior High School in Region 1 and the Cordillera Autonomous Region with STEM track curriculum.

Specifically, the project aims to raise PHP3 million for highest-need public high schools in the region selected by the Department of Education. The American Chamber Foundation Philippines will screen the projects and purchase equipment based on the schools’ project proposals. Northern Star is leveraging their 26 stations in the region and also donating PHP1.5 million directly to the project. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
