MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that no Filipino was among the 23 reported wounded in Najran, Saudi Arabia following a foiled missile attack against the Kingdom Wednesday night.

“There are no Filipinos among the 23 persons reported injured by falling fragments from a ballistic missile that was successfully intercepted by Saudi defense forces on Wednesday,” said DFA Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato on Thursday.

While there were Filipino nurses working at two hospitals in Najran, near the area the missile debris fell into, the DFA reported that all were accounted for and were safe.

Consul General Edgar Badajos of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah said he is in touch with Filipino Community leader Fayes Mailao, who assured him that the 7,850 Filipinos in Najran are safe.

He reminded Filipinos in Bahrain and the 30,000 others in the cities of Jizan, and Khamis-Mushayt to always be vigilant as southern Saudi Arabia is frequently being targeted by ballistic missiles being launched from neighboring Yemen. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
