Comelec to utilize unused forms from past polls in Marawi BSKE

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking to utilize unused forms for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in Marawi City set on September 22.

In Minute Resolution No. 18-0693, the Comelec en banc has approved to use non-accountable election forms that were not used in past poll exercises.

“(This is) in a bid to save public funds and government resources,” the poll body said.

Forms that will be used for Saturday’s Marawi village polls are Poster indicating Precinct Number, Appointment of Chairman/Poll Clerk/Members of BET, Tally Sheets, Minutes of Voting and Counting of Votes, Paper Seals, Certificate of Votes, Certificates of Receipt of Official Ballots, and other forms and supplies of BET.

Also, the unconsumed Certificate of Challenge or Protest and Decision of the Board, Oath of Voter Challenged for Illegal Acts, Oath of Identification of Challenged Voter, various canvassing forms, and various envelopes.

The poll body noted that the unused forms came from the postponed village and youth electoral exercises, namely in 2010, 2015, 2017, and last May 14.

The Comelec reported that the printing of the 50,893 official ballots to be used for the polls has been completed by the National Printing Office (NPO).

It also printed 177 sets of election returns.

On the other hand, the poll body said the last day of the campaign period for those running for barangay chairman and kagawad; and SK chairman and kagawad in the war-torn city is on Thursday.

Starting Friday, campaigning will already be prohibited until election day.

A liquor ban will also take effect in the city on the said dates. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
