BAGUIO CITY — The Police Regional Office in Cordillera (PROCOR) on Monday received 38 patrol cars, 10 light machine guns, and other supplies and equipment to boost their field operations.
PROCOR Information Office chief, Supt. Pelita Tacio, said Tuesday the 38 Toyota and Hyundai vehicles were distributed to the Baguio City Police Office and the provincial police offices of Benguet, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra, Ifugao, and Mountain Province.
It was learned that the Hyundai vehicles were donated to the Philippine National Police (PNP) by the Korean government through the Korea International Cooperation Agency.
Chief Supt. R’win Pagkalinawan, PROCOR deputy for administration, led the turnover of the vehicles to the provincial and city police offices.
Tacio said the vehicles will be used to enhance the criminal investigation capability and anti-crime campaigns of the field units in their respective areas of operations.
Aside from patrol cars and firearms, 192 combat helmets and 192 bulletproof vests from the national police headquarters were also distributed to the regional, provincial, and city mobile forces.
Tacio said the distribution of new patrol vehicles is part of the PNP’s continued efforts to upgrade the logistical capabilities of local police forces for their field operations. (Liza Agoot/PNA)
