MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Norway, is in coordination with the Swedish authorities on the investigation into the death of a Filipina in Kista, Sweden.
The victim was identified as Mailyn Conde Sinambong, a Filipina mother of two, who was allegedly murdered by her Swedish actor-husband on September 23.
The DFA reported the incident to the media on Sunday but did not name the suspect.
According to DFA Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato, the agency was informed of the incident by Mailyn’s mother Maria Monato, who personally sought assistance from the DFA Consular Office in Cebu.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano extended condolences to the bereaved family of Sinambong.
He also assured that all the necessary assistance will be extended to the Filipina’s family, not only on the repatriation of her remains, but also vowed that justice will be served.
The embassy is currently working with the Swedish government-provided lawyer handling the case.
It is also in touch with Mailyn’s aunt in Norway and her mother in Medellin, Cebu.
It was learned that Sinambong’s husband is in the custody of Swedish authorities. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
