100 pupils in Bulacan get free slippers

GUIGUINTO, Bulacan — At least 100 pupils of Tiaong Elementary School in Barangay Tiaong here received new footwear during the launching of the “Slippers Distribution Project” on Friday.

Maricel Santos-Cruz, information officer of the Bulacan Provincial Public Affairs and Guiguinto Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) president, initiated the project.

The giving of free slippers to pupils is her own way of telling them “to dream and fulfill those dreams,” Cruz said.

“I did not grow rich. My classmates before used to have good slippers while I was using old footwear. So, I am encouraging the children to continuously dream because that will bring them to success,” she added.

The project gives her satisfaction knowing that in her own way, she was able to make the children happy, Cruz said.

Friday’s distribution, she noted, is just the first in a series of similar activities because she plans to give 2,000 pairs of slippers to other pupils in Guiguinto and nearby towns of Bulacan. (Manny Balbin/PNA)
