P6.15-M released for DOLE employment beneficiaries in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of PHP6,153,000 was released by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the payment of salaries of emergency employment beneficiaries in this province under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

The beneficiaries, numbering 1,465, are marginalized residents of Angeles and Mabalacat cities, and Magalang town in the province’s first district.

DOLE-3 (Central Luzon) Director Zenaida Angara-Campita said on Thursday the emergency employment assistance was implemented to help indigent residents affected by the recent typhoon.

“We have partnered with the different Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in profiling marginalized heads of households in calamity-struck areas of the province and other parts of Central Luzon. The TUPAD has always been the sought-after intervention of the DOLE in rehabilitation process activities after the ravages of calamities in affected communities,” Campita noted.

She said that each beneficiary received PHP4,200 for 10 days of work that included cleaning, rehabilitating and beautifying their respective assigned areas of responsibility.

“This way, they were able to earn a little while recovering from the calamity that struck their homes and communities,” Campita said.

DOLE-Pampanga head Arlene Tolentino said personal protective equipment and tools were handed out to the beneficiaries to ensure their safety.

She added that all beneficiaries were provided with social benefits through enrollment in the Government Service Insurance System’s micro insurance. (Froilan Magtoto/PNA)
