Man arrested for ‘bomb threat’ inside department store

DUMAGUETE CITY — A man was arrested on Monday for allegedly threatening to blow up a department store in Negros Oriental when a security guard accosted him for walking barefoot.

A police report identified the suspect as Johnrey B. Lacson, 31, resident of Palongpong, Barangay Narra in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, about 101 kilometers south of this capital.

Lacson entered the Lee Super Plaza department store in downtown Dumaguete City and was “accosted” by Rolando M. Tabunar, security officer of the Alexis Security Agency, for not wearing slippers, the police report said.

Lacson reportedly claimed to be a member of the New People’s Army and threatened to bomb the entire department store.

The security officer, assisted by a policeman and an auxiliary, arrested the suspect.

Charges pf violation of Presidential Decree 1727 (Declaring as Unlawful the Malicious Dissemination of False Information or the Willful Making of any Threat Concerning Bombs, Explosives or Any Similar Device or Means of Destruction) will be filed against the suspect. (Mary Judaline Partlow/PNA)
