CAMP SALIDAPA K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao – The capability of police authorities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is expected to improve with the acquisition by the regional police office of 30 new patrol vehicles.

“The vehicles would surely boost the proficiency of the police in the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi to fight criminality and ensure people are protected from violence,” Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares, director of the Police Regional Office – ARMM, said.

Mijares led on Wednesday the blessing and ceremonial turnover of a Toyota Hi-Lux vehicle at the grounds of these camp. He said the vehicles were from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Logistics.

“This is part of the continuing effort of the PNP to upgrade facilities and equipment of the local police force under its capability enhancement program,” Mijares said, adding that each patrol car costs PHP1,116,500.

The recipients of the new patrol vehicles are the Police Provincial Offices of Maguindanao (8 units), Lanao 8 (units), Basilan (3 units), Sulu (Units), Tawi-Tawi (6 units) and one (1) unit for the regional headquarters.

Mijares said the arrival of the 30 brand new vehicles is very timely for the upcoming Bangsamoro Organic Law and May 2019 Midterm elections.

“These mobility resources should be used carefully. Do exert responsible driving and accountability in its operation,” he told ARMM provincial police directors and other officers. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
