DOH allots P133-M for new Koronadal office

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Department of Health in Region 12 (DOH-12) has allocated around PHP133 million for the development of its new regional office building in Koronadal City.

Dr. Aristides Tan, DOH-12 regional director, said Monday the initial construction works are underway for the Soccsksargen Center for Health and Development in Purok San Miguel, Barangay Paraiso.

Tan said the DOH central office allocated last year a total of P146 million for the implementation of the project. Some P13 million was allotted for the acquisition of the two-hectare site and P133 million for the construction of the building, he said.

The creation of a new regional office building seeks to comply with the provisions of Executive Order 36, which designated Koronadal City as the regional administrative seat and center of the reconfigured Region 12 or Soccsksargen.

DOH-12’s regional office is currently based in Cotabato City, the previous regional administrative center of Region 12.

The Regional Development Council of Region 12 has been pushing regional line agencies to complete their transfer to Koronadal City to facilitate better services to the area’s stakeholders and help bring government service closer to the people.

“The new site (in Koronadal City) is strategically located and envisioned to better serve the entire region,” Tan said. (PNA)
