President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday warned human rights advocates and said that he wants to conduct an investigation for ‘conspiracy’ against human rights activists who are ‘obstructing justice.’
“One of these days, kayong Human Rights, kayo ang imbestigahin ko. Totoo. Conspiracy,” he said before the audience of 19th anniversary of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption in Malacañang.
Duterte pointed out that only those human rights activists, who obstruct justice, should be punished by the police.
“Sabihin mo pulis, barilin mo na ‘yang kasali diyan. If they are obstructing justice, you shoot them” he said.
” Galit ako sa inyo. Because hindi niyo tinitimpla kung anong klaseng papasukan ninyo. Basta human rights. Eh ilang biktima na dito? ‘Yung lima na namatay, anong… ‘Yung one-year-old na ginulgol doon? ‘Yung human rights diyan nasaan?” he added.
Duterte, moreover, said that these human rights only provide recommendations while condemning police but still cannot act on based on proposals.
“What about the human rights? Hanggang rekomendasyon lang sila. They can write anything. Condemn the police, condemn everybody, pagdating ng recommendation, wala naman,” he stated. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV
