SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) is reminding police personnel to avoid indiscriminate firing and getting drunk, especially this holiday season.
Supt. Norby Escobar, APPO Deputy Director for Operations, said Monday the policemen in the province, numbering around 800, should not let themselves be carried away by the parties because it could put at stake their jobs.
“Policemen are now receiving higher salaries, so they have to be careful not to lose their employment,” he said.
He said when a person is intoxicated, he could commit irregular activities that could be tantamount to dismissal.
“I always remind our police personnel to be careful with what they are doing,” he said.
He said the APPO, once ordered by the Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) , will also hold muzzle-taping of the issued firearms to prevent indiscriminate firing among its personnel.
“We are glad that in Antique there has been no indiscriminate firing that has happened yet involving the police,” Escobar said.
He said in other provinces, there have been cases of indiscriminate firing by police officers who have been dismissed from the service.
