Desiderio, Tratter attend NLEX practice amid looming trade

MANILA — Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter came to NLEX’s team practice on Monday despite their current floating status.

Desiderio and Tratter, the club’s first round picks in the Philippine Basketball Association Draft on Sunday night, are set to be shipped to Blackwater for Poy Erram in a swap that is being evaluated at the league office.

Despite the trade, Desiderio and Tratter still went to the Meralco Gym in Pasig City to join the Road Warriors in training.

Desiderio even showed what he can do by getting past Kevin Alas for a layup that was caught on video.

Desiderio said during draft night, he will be ready wherever he will eventually end up.

“Kahit saan ako mapunta lalaban ako. Kung ite-trade man ako o hindi, basta lalaban ako sa kung anong team lalaruan ko (Whereever I team I end up, I’ll fight. If I would be traded or not, I will do my best whichever team that I’ll be playing in),” he said.

On the other hand, Tratter thinks he is blending well with the team.

“I feel like I fit in,” Tratter said in a statement posted in the Road Warriors’ Twitter account.

“Coach Yeng [Guiao] said he’s confident in our talent no matter what, so coming in today, I’m just excited to start my career,” he said.

Regarding the looming trade, Tratter commented, “It’s not my decision, so I’m controlling what I can.”
