Malacañang — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received a rather interesting gift for Father’s Day: an “Executive Order” signed by First Lady Louise “Lisa” Araneta‑Marcos and their children Ferdinand Alexander, Joseph Simon, and William Vincent directing him to rest for the day.
In her social media post, Araneta‑Marcos thanked the President for his dedication as a father and husband. She noted that while their children may call him “Pops” and the nation may call him “Mr. President,” she considers herself fortunate to call him “mine.”
“Thank you for your strength, your patience, your terrible jokes and your big heart,” she wrote, adding that life has become “sweeter, funnier and far more meaningful” because of their journey together.
Ending her message on a light note, the First Lady issued a mock “executive order” directing the President to rest. “By virtue of our Executive Order, you are hereby directed to REST today!” she said.
The Palace emphasized that Father’s Day is a reminder of the sacrifices of Filipino fathers across communities — whether in uniform, in the fields, or at home — and a recognition of their strength and devotion. The First Lady’s gesture underscored the balance between leadership and family life.
Families nationwide marked Father’s Day with simple gatherings, tributes, and thanksgiving. From barangay halls to parish churches, fathers were honored through programs, prayers, and community events.
As the nation celebrated, the First Lady’s message resonated beyond Malacañang. Her words captured the essence of fatherhood as service, and service as nationhood — a reminder that leadership begins at home.
Filipinos paused to honor the men who stand as anchors of their families and communities. From the Palace to the provinces, the call was the same: to recognize fathers for their devotion, resilience, and love that binds their families together.
