The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Friday it is coordinating with other law enforcement bodies after the confirmation of the authenticity of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) uniforms discovered inside an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) facility in Porac, Pampanga.

The PLA is the armed wing of the Chinese Communist Party and the military institution of the People’s Republic of China.

“We are coordinating closely with the relevant intelligence and law enforcement agencies to fully investigate this matter,” AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said in a message to reporters.

Padilla said the military acknowledges the statement of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) that the seized PLA uniforms were “authentic but old”.

She added that the AFP remains committed to protecting national security and would take all necessary measures to address any potential threat.

“We assure the public that we are vigilant and proactive in safeguarding our national interests,” Padilla said.
