Amihan to bring light rains over northern Luzon

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – The northeast monsoon or amihan will bring light rains across Luzon, the weather bureau said on Thursday (Jan. 6).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon. The rest of northern Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Caraga will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

PAGASA cautioned that floods or landslides are possible during moderate to heavy rains in Caraga.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.

Floods and landslides are also likely during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the whole archipelago.

Gale warning has been issued over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, eastern seaboard of Luzon, eastern seaboard of the Visayas, and eastern seaboard of Mindanao.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts to take precautions against moderate to rough seas. (PNA) -ag
