ANGELES CITY — At least nine new mobile patrol vehicles were turned over Tuesday to the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) as part of the city government’s efforts to boost police visibility and mobility.
League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) president and Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, together with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde, led the turnover activity at the Angeles City Hall grounds.
Pamintuan said the vehicles will help enhance the surveillance capabilities of the ACPO to maintain the stable peace and order situation in this highly-urbanized city.
“The ‘safe city’ tag on us entails a challenge and that we should intensify and sustain our programs, and extend our support to the local police,” the mayor said.
The patrol vehicles, composed of eight brand new Toyota Hilux and one Toyota Innova AUV, are set to be distributed to all police stations in the city and to the main police headquarters here.
Albayalde expressed its appreciation to the city government, saying the donation is a “strong symbol of common commitment to ensure peace and order in the community.”
“The donations will boost the logistical capabilities of ACPO and improve the mobility of our personnel to immediately respond to calls for help and public service, and to ensure a strengthened mobile patrol in the city,” he said.
“These will surely advance the modernization of our mobility equipment to further strengthen our duty in maintaining peace and order in the community, and the continuous fight against crime and illegal drugs,” he added.
Pamintuan said the local government will turn over 30 motorcycles to the local police before the end of his term as mayor.
Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno, on the other hand, assured that the city will not stop its crusade in making Angeles City the safest city in the country.
Meanwhile, Pamintuan led a walkthrough with Albayalde and other police and local officials inside the Angeles City Agyu Tamu Emergency and Disaster Command Center, the city government’s flagship project to ensure peace and security. (Ric Sapnu/PNA)
