Anti-terror, counter-insurgency ops to continue during Holy Week

MANILA — Counter-terrorism and anti-insurgency operations will continue as the nation prepares for the annual observance of Holy Week.

“Field units has an implied task of supporting the PNP (Philippine National Police) during Holy Week to secure travelers and places of worship during the season of Lent,” Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief, Col. Noel Detoyato, said in a message to the Philippine News Agency Wednesday when asked what preparations the military is undertaking to secure the country during the annual religious holiday.

Detoyato, however, maintained that operations against terror groups and communist terrorists will continue.

“While doing this, primary mission of counter terrorism and counter insurgency will still be in the forefront of the AFP field units,” he said.
