Antique execs laud efficient intel efforts of gov’t forces

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Antique acting Governor Edgar Denosta and San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Elmer Untaran have lauded the efficient intelligence efforts of government troops that curtailed extortion activities and preempted a planned attack on the San Jose Municipal Police Station.

“It is because of the efficient intelligence effort of the government force that the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army and National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) members were discovered,” Untaran said in an interview Wednesday.

He added that he considers the encounter that occurred here before dawn Wednesday as an isolated incident.

“Our municipality remains to be a peaceful place to live in, work and do business,” the mayor assured the public.

Meanwhile, Denosta, during Wednesday’s press conference at the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO), urged government troops to give suggestions on how to “further improve the peace and order situation in Antique”.

He directed the request to Chief Supt. John C. Bulalacao and to Philippine Army’s 301st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Benedict M. Arevalo.

Denosta further assured that the provincial government would continue to support the campaign against insurgency in the province. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
