Antique town UCT beneficiaries get cash grants Thursday

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to release the unconditional cash transfer (UCT) to 1,359 senior citizen beneficiaries in the northern town of Barbaza on Thursday.

Melrose Amaran of the DSWD office in Antique, in an interview on Wednesday, said the senior citizens from Barbaza would receive PHP2,400 as a one-shot financial assistance during their pay out with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

“We have a target of releasing UCT to 1,359 senior citizen beneficiaries tomorrow at the municipal gym,” she said.

In Antique province, DSWD assisted by the LBP, started to release the UCT to 2,058 beneficiaries in Culasi last July and then in Tibiao town to 1,494 seniors.

Last Saturday, there were 1,737 beneficiaries in Sibalom and then 2,261 in Patnongon.

“All over the province we have a total target of 24,998 beneficiaries,” she said.

Amaran said the UCT in the amount of PHP2,400 or PHP200 per month is an assistance to the 64 year olds and above indigent senior citizens in the province, who had been identified through the National Household Targeting System. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
