The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines are planning to recognize local government units (LGUs) and municipalities that display best practices on ease of doing business and anti-red tape.
The program aims to identify and award LGUs and municipalities that have made significant efforts toward streamlining their processes to make their transactions more convenient for the public.
It will also be the first joint project of the Authority and JCI Philippines after the latter became ARTA Champions.
This was discussed in a meeting between ARTA Secretary Jeremiah Belgica and JCI Philippines National President Jude Acidre, along with other ARTA and JCI officials, on Monday (June 21).
“We were inspired by the ‘Paspas Pilipinas’ motto of ARTA and would like to impress this on the country’s LGUs and municipalities. The aim of this program is to inspire healthy competition among the participants to develop more sound regulatory practices to streamline their systems,” Acidre said.
Belgica said they may form a technical working group (TWG) to “start drafting the concept.”
On June 16, JCI Philippines inked a Memorandum of Understanding to serve as ARTA Champions, enabling them to be the Authority’s eyes on the ground to further boost its fight against red tape.
Among the responsibilities of an ARTA Champion is receiving complaints from the public for violations of Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018. – jlo
