BAGUIO CITY – All offices of the city councilors, the session hall, and some support offices of the City Council were placed under a four-day lockdown starting Tuesday (Sep. 14), after 12 personnel contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“I ordered a lockdown until Friday (Sept. 17) to give way to disinfection of the offices,” Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Olowan, meanwhile, said closed offices have adopted alternative work arrangements for their personnel while some offices have maintained a skeleton workforce to ensure continued operations.

“Personnel is on a work from home arrangement so they are expected to have an output even if they are not at City Hall,” he said.

Olowan said the disinfection will last until the weekend and they hope to resume the session of the legislative branch on Sept. 20.

“But it will depend on the situation. We will see,” he said.

Olowan, meanwhile, said offices of the councilors that logged Covid-19 infections will remain on lockdown for 14 days while offices without cases will physically open on Sept. 20.

He said the council has been maintaining a workforce capacity of 30 percent to avoid congestion in offices. (PNA)-bny
