Barangay, SK elections postponed; Malasakit Centers in hospitals in progress

President Rodrigo Duterte inked last night, 03 December 2019 the suspension of the May-2020 barangay and Sangguniang Bayan (SK) elections, embodied by Republic Act (RA) No. 11462, and the establishment of Malasakit Centers in Department of Health hospitals across the country, manifested by RA No. 11463.

As a consequence of the deferring of the elections, the next voting for barangay and SK posts is scheduled in December 2022. The Commission on Elections commented that it will now keep its eye on the 2022 national elections.

On the installment of Malasakit Centers in hospitals directly governed by the health department, the Filipino citizenry will soon have a one-stop-shop to avail the assistance provided by different government arms such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

President Duterte hopes that following the signing of the two laws, the country will step on a better position.
