President Rodrigo Duterte gave his imprimatur on the implementation of Salary Standardization Law (SSL) 5 on Wednesday, January 08, 2020. The Department of Budget and Management informed that the law encompasses civilian government workers functioning in the executive, judiciary, and legislative branches of the state; constitutional bodies, and government-owned or -controlled corporations. Public teachers and nurses are some of the employees benefiting from the pay hike.
