Bato on drug war: Will do everything to make it less bloody

Philippine National Police Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa vowed that they will do everything to attain less bloody war on drugs despite stating that it is impossible to have fool-proof bloodless drug war.

“Maging successful sa drug war, walang namatay? That’s baloney. That’s impossible,” the PNP chief said on Monday at PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

“We are just giving you the assurance na lahat ay gagawin namin para maging less bloody ang anti-drug campaign,” he added.

He also stated that police officers need to protect themselves, therefore he cannot guarantee a hundred percent bloodless anti-drug campaign.

“Alangan naman na pabayaan namin ‘yong sarili namin, mamatay kami, kung armado at makipagbarilan ‘yong drug personalities,” Bato said.

“I cannot give you a 100 percent, fool-proof anti-drug campaign that is bloodless,” he stressed.

Bato assured the public that PNP has learned its lesson and mistakes from previous drug war and it will not happen again.

“Let me assure the Filipino people that the PNP has learned its lessons, and learned it well. Mistakes of the past will no longer be repeated. We will go out and win this war,” dela Rosa said.

“We are determined more than ever to win the war on drugs. We will ensure that our community will be peaceful and free of scourge brought by the drug problem,” he added.
