“The BJMP is offering an opportunity to young professionals who wish to pursue career in government service particularly in the jail management profession. We have 1,000 vacant positions now and we are inviting them to submit applications the soonest time possible”, said Acting Chief, BJMP Deogracias C. Tapayan.

“Aside from pursuing their passion, the bureau also offers a unique opportunity where they can help people behind bars to become better persons while enjoying a decent job,” he added.

The entry positions in BJMP is earning around P23,204 per month which includes the base pay, provisional allowance, hazard pay, personnel economic relief allowance, subsistence allowance, quarter allowance, rice allowance, clothing and laundry allowances.

Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree, appropriate civil service eligibility from the Civil Service Commission or the Professional Regulations Commission, not less than 21 years old but not more than 30 years old, at least 1.62 meters in height for male and 1.57 meters for female, of good moral character and not dishonorably discharged from previous employment.

Meanwhile, BJMP Spokesperson Jail Senior Inspector Xavier A. Solda, acting as project head of the online campaign, encourages the netizens to support the project by simply liking and following the BJMP Official Facebook Fan Page as well as the agency’s Official Twitter Page, @bjmp_official. They are requesting to share the digital contents of the campaign to their friends and relatives and encourage them to submit applications.

He also encourage the public to visit the BJMP website at www.bjmp.gov.ph for more information regarding the recruitment campaign of the bureau.

“We wanted the public to understand the job functions of BJMP officers– that we are not limited only to safekeeping of inmates but we are also teachers, psychologists, social workers, doctors, lawyers, nurses, counselors and criminologists to them,” said Solda.

“The diverse educational backgrounds of our personnel became one of the strengths we are enjoying that eases our work in rehabilitating those who were put behind bars and now under our care,” Solda added.

The BJMP is a line agency under the Department of the Interior and Local Government exercising supervision of inmates undergoing trial in all district, city and municipal jails nationwide.

Sentenced prisoners are not under the BJMP but of the Bureau of Corrections who supervises New Bilibid Prisons, Correctional Institute for Women and the penal colonies across the country. | PIA
