The Bureau of Customs (BOC) assured the public on Wednesday that the 13 luxury vehicles of contractor couple Pacifico “Curlee” II and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya that will be auctioned off are safe to use.

According to Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip Maronilla, the high-end cars that were found to have been illegally imported, are available for auction on Nov. 15.

“These cars would be sold by the BOC. You can be certain that we would not run after you,” he said in an interview.

“We would go through the proper process and we would be issuing a certification to you, stating that you purchased them at the auction. You will be able to use them without encountering any problems,” the BOC spokesperson added.

He noted that the government is set to earn P100 million to P200 million if all the cars would be sold.

The vehicles that will be offered through public auction are a Toyota Tundra, Toyota Sequoia, Mercedes-Benz AMG SUV, Mercedes-Benz G 500, Lincoln Navigator 2021, Bentley Bentayga, Lincoln Navigator 2024, GMC Yukon Denali, Cadillac Escalade 2021, Maserati Levante Modena, GMC Yukon Denali, Cadillac Escalade ESV, and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

“We are hoping that we would be able to invite people who would want to purchase these vehicles…whatever amount that would be raised, it would be added funds to finance the government’s priority projects,” Maronilla said.

The BOC official said the vehicles have been forfeited in favor of the government after the Discayas failed to satisfactorily convince the bureau that these were legally imported based on the documents submitted.
