BOC NAIA seizes more misdeclared Chinese medicines

The anti-smuggling efforts of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) resulted in another seizure on May 7, 2020 of an estimated 4 kilos of misdeclared Chinese medicines from Taiwan without the necessary Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) clearance.

The shipment was sent through air cargo in one of the warehouses in Pasay City and was misdeclared as 15 US $ dollar worth “Plastic Boxes” consigned to a male Filipino with an address in Tondo, Manila.

This is another scheme of evading the required License to Operate and Certificate of Product Registration from FDA on the importation of medicines.

The effort was through the vigilance of the BOC NAIA Examiners, X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence & Investigation Service (CIIS) and Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) through continuous profiling of shipments to unveil illegal modus in circumventing customs and related laws.

District Collector of NAIA Carmelita M . Talusan stated that BOC NAIA will continue to perform its job in complying with the directives of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero in strengthening border protection.
