LAOAG CITY — The Department of Education’s (DepEd) Schools Division in Ilocos Norte is gearing up for the province-wide “Brigada Eskwela” on Friday.
Enjoining all education stakeholders to join the kick-off ceremony at the Burgos Agro-Industrial School in Poblacion village, Burgos town, Schools Division Supt. Vilma Eda said Thursday a caravan will commence at the Ilocos Norte Schools Division Office at 7 a.m., and will pass through the different schools along the national highway from Laoag City to the towns of Bacarra, Pasuquin and Burgos.
“For elementary level, there are some minor repairs in classrooms but we have enough learning facilities. For the secondary, we have so many new buildings for the senior high school program,” said Eda.
Students, teachers, parents and community volunteers will do repairs and clean up in public schools.
DepEd Ilocos Norte will launch the “Brigada Eskwela” two days ahead of the regional launch on May 27. Classes are set to begin on June 4.
The nationwide implementation of “Brigada Eskwela”, or the so-called National Schools Maintenance Week by public schools, aims to bring together all stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources for school children.
With the DepEd focusing on maintaining resilient and disaster-ready classrooms, this year’s theme is “Pagkakaisa Para sa Handa, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan”.
As in previous years, DepEd will search for the best implementer of “Brigada Eskwela”, both from the regional and national levels. (PNA)
