BRP Ang Pangulo presidential ship converted to floating hospital

The presidential ship, BRP Ang Pangulo, is now being used as a floating hospital in Siargao, open to residents who have been affected by Typhoon Odette.

Medical teams from the Philippine Navy and Armed Forces of the Philippines in Eastern Mindanao Command are also providing free medical assistance to residents from Siargao.

Thirty-six individuals have already been attended to in the floating hospital.

Two more have been admitted due to hypertension and diarrhea, but have since returned home.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Caraga strongly denied reports of theft or looting in Siargao and Dinagat Islands amid the shortage of food and other needs.

According to PNP Public Information Office Chief police Maj. Dorothy Tumulak, they have not received any reports of looting incidents in areas affected by Typhoon Odette.

She added that 400 police personnel were deployed to the affected areas to ensure peace and order among the victims of Typhoon Odette. -Report from Bea Bernardo – bny
