Casimero retains WBO title with split decision win over Rigondeaux

John Riel Casimero of the Philippines won via split decision over Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba on Saturday, Aug. 14 (Aug. 15, Sunday, PH time) to retain the WBO bantamweight title at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Two judges scored the fight for the 31-year-old Filipino (116-112 and 117-111) while another had it in favor of Rigondeaux (115-113).

Casimero improved his boxing record to 31 wins (21 by KO) and four losses, while Rigondeaux now totes a record of 20 wins (13 by KO) and two losses.
